I swam competitively from age 4-27, took a few years off and started racing again at age 32. I did my first CrossFit competition in 2022.
I swam at Clarion University from 2007-2011 where I was a 28x All American swimmer (NCAA maximum – D2) and still hold 9 school records (50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 100 fly, 200/400 medley relays and 200/400/800 free relays). I continued swimming as a post grad with West Virginia University and qualified for the 2016 Olympic Trials in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly, placing as high as 27th in the country in the 50 free. I recently came in 6th in the 50 free at the 2022 U.S. Open and qualified for the 2024 Olympic Swim Trials.
After retiring from swimming in 2016, I found X-Fit in 2017. I enjoyed doing it just to stay in shape, but decided to start taking it more seriously in 2021. Since then, I qualified and competed at The Fittest Experience in Texas (RX Individual) and Wodapalooza (RX Team).
I am most proud of my recent qualification for the 2024 Olympic Swim Trials. I mostly train as a crossfitter and only spend one day a week in the pool, so I feel that it is a true testament of the hard work I put in.
Swimming and X-Fit are complete opposites for me. I enjoy swimming because of the solitude but I enjoy working out and laughing with my friends at the gym. I love X-Fit because it forces me out of my comfort zone daily by requiring me to do things I don’t necessarily excel at.
My favorite piece of Lycan equipment is my pink barbell. Not only do I love the way it spins when I’m lifting but the pop of color is a reminder to always have fun!
